VINEYARDS

Located in 25 de Mayo – San Rafael at 850 mts. on a hill. Selection from two parcela, one characterized by a soil profile of sand and clay mixed with round rocks and the other by a thin layer of sand and clay leading to a conglomerate of round rocks, calcareous and some caliche. Debudding, leave thinning and cluster thinning result in yields of 6000-7000 kg per ha. French rooted vines planted in 2003, conducted on a vsp and irrigated by drip irrigation.

WINEMARKING

Selection and destemming. Fermentation takes place in small concrete tanks at controlled temperatures (25°C) with selected yeasts. After a maceration period of 20 days the wine does spontaneous malolactic fermentation. All of the wine is aged in American (30%) and French (70%) oak barrels of 225 lts during 12 months. Clarified, lightly filtered and bottled. Bottle aged for at least 12 months prior to being released.

TASTING NOTES

A deep purple garnet coloured wine. The nose is suggestive of black plums, herbs, cassis and raspberry showing complexity. The mouthfeel is refined, well structured and velvety textured with a long finish.
